After a successful career in Investor Relations in the Telecommunications industry, Audrey McGinnis has spent the last 18-years raising a family, along with developing and growing a home based catering and custom cake business. 
Completely self taught, Audrey enjoys cooking both sweet and savory. And while the majority of her business is savory, it is her cakes and other decadent treats that she is most known for.  Along with creating one-of-a-kind, 3-D and other sculpted creations, she also loves the challenge of combining unique flavor combinations. 
Along with appearing on Food Network’s Cake Wars, and Spring Baking Championship, she was also a contestant on FOX’s MasterChef Season 3, and can be seen as a regular food contributor on local morning shows, FOX GOOD DAY, and WFAA’s Good Morning Texas & Mid-day.
Creating cakes was the result of a family tradition started by Audrey’s dad and one that she couldn’t wait to start with her own children.

The judges liked McGinnis’ cakes so much they awarded her the show’s signature apron. She was one of only six contestants to receive an unanimous vote from all three judges (two judges’ votes are needed receive an apron). Her cake was also included in the Season3 cook book, which was an honor only typically given to the last 18 contestants.

I competed against bakers that own their own bakeries, chocolatiers and even one that was the pastry chef for Wolfgang Puck’s Spago for 13 years! It was actually a delight to work with all the bakers and judges and the Food Network, as a whole, was a dream!!
